Zambia’s New Wave Sensational Singer Daev Has Died

In what came as a shock, Zambia’s and XYZ sensational Musician David Phiri popularly known as Daev the famous love song “It’s Never Been Easy” hit maker has died in a fatal accident that claimed 5 lives in early afternoon of 27th September, 2020.

Daev and three others died on the spot in an accident yesterday while one survived with serious injuries but later died after a Toyota Vits he was driving was involved in an accident at around 14:00 hours at red paint area along Chirundu – Kafue Road.

Slapdee’s fans were left to wonder after the rapper wrote an abrupt sad post about losing a brother.

Although, there was not yet official confirmation from Daev’s team. Other artists like T-Sean joined in expressing the devastating loss;

Later on, an official announcement on the accident was made by XYZ Entertainment management and Police. Below is the statement by management.

It’s with extreme sorrow that XYZ Entertainments Limited confirms the untimely demise of XYZ artist David Phiri III popularly known as DAEV ZAMBIA.

DAEV ZAMBIA was this afternoon involved in a road traffic accident along the Chirundu – Kafue Road at Red Paint area.

DAEV was in the company of four other people,three have perished and one has sustained serious injuries.

All official statements will be issued through XYZ management and the official family spokesperson.

Below is the official police statement.


Four people have died while one survived with serious injuries in a fatal road traffic accident which occurred today on 27th September, 2020 at around 1400 hours along Chirundu – Kafue road at red paint area.

Involved was the driver David Phiri who has been severely burnt and was driving a motor vehicle Toyota Vitz registration number ALJ 7273 from direction of chirundu to Lusaka with four passengers on board.

The other deceased persons have been identified by relatives as Tandiwe Njovu aged 20 years of Lusaka also reported to have been a student at Levy Mwanawasa Hospital, Elton Sakala of Lusaka while the other female victim has not been identified yet.

The victim who survived with serious head injuries has been referred to UTH in Lusaka and has not been identified yet.

The accident happened when the driver lost control of the motor vehicle and carrierred off the road and over turned after which the motor vehicle caught fire .

The bodies of the deceased persons are in Mtendere Mission Hospital mortuary.
